Concerned about wildfires?
Join your Fire Safe Council and help us prepare our beautiful county for the wildfires that are sure to happen — again!
The Mendocino County Fire Safe Council is an independent, nonprofit partnership of residents, ranches, road associations, and other groups working in common-sense ways to spare lives, homes, and natural resources from injury or damage by wildfires.
We are a “membership” organization, and members’ dues are a vital part of our income. Because we are a 501(c)(3) corporation, all your contributions are tax-deductible! |
The Council’s activities include:
- Helping start local Fire Safe Councils in rural areas – does your area need one?
- Creating educational materials, such as “Living with Wildfire in Mendocino County”
- Obtaining federal funding for projects to reduce wildfire risks – $689,000 to date! If you need help clearing your property or road, contact us!!
- Promoting reflective road and address signs
- Supporting local volunteer fire districts
- Serving as an information clearinghouse
- Coming soon: introducing the national Firewise Communities Recognition Program to Mendocino County!
